Frequently Asked Question - FAQs

BEFORE DEPARTURE

What documents do I need to travel?

In order to travel within Italian territory, you need a valid identity document and a completed self-certification form. If you are travelling outside of Italy, you will need an identity document valid for foreign travel (e.g. passport or identity card). It is equally necessary to check with the relevant authorities in the destination country whether a visa, invitation letter or COVID-19 certificate is required. Please visit the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' viaggiaresicuri.it website, where you can consult the country fact sheets.

Until 30 April 2022, it is also necessary to submit the so-called Basic Green Pass for using air transport.

Do I have to submit a self-declaration form to travel?

All persons entering Italy from abroad are also required to fill in the digital Passenger Locator Form (dPLF) in accordance with the procedures established by the Ministry of Health on 15 May 2021. The dPLF form must be completed and submitted before boarding.

AT THE AIRPORT

Are there inspections at the terminals?

The validity and authenticity of the COVID-19 Green Certificate is checked by the carrier at the point of boarding.

I am not a passenger but I have to accompany a relative/friend to the airport, can I enter the terminal?

As of 14 February, accompanying persons are once again allowed to enter the terminal. Inside the airport, as in all closed premises open to the public, it remains compulsory to wear a protective mask and to maintain a minimum distance of one metre between people.

Are there any exceptions to the use of face masks at the airport?

Children under six years of age, people with illnesses or disabilities that are incompatible with the use of a face mask and people who have to communicate with them in such a way that they cannot use a face mask are exempt from this requirement.

It is advisable that the pathological condition, where not immediately perceptible, be demonstrated by means of a medical report.

What type of face mask is required to board the aircraft?

Until 30 April 2022, FFP2 masks must be worn onboard aircraft on domestic and international routes.
